I have always LOVED reading. As long as I can remember, I have wanted to write a book. Although it took me more than 40 years to write my first book, it does not have to be that way. Let us help you stand out on your college applications as a PUBLISHED AUTHOR.
For 2023, meet Teen Author and Keynote Speaker Renece Vernon. For 2021, meet former Miss Massachusetts Young Miss (ECUSA 21-22), National Young Miss Fitness (21-22), Miss Massachusetts Seacoast (21 & 22), & 3X published Teen Author...Kitty
Please reach us by EMAIL if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The Belmont City Press Senior Scholarship is for rising high school seniors. This is an opportunity to become a published author in time to add that accomplishment to your college applications.
Certainly! We recognize there could be several questions about how the process works. Please reach out to our publisher Red Hilton to set up a time to meet or have her make a presentation to your students/faculty/PTO or the responsible hosts of the scholarship.
Students are nominated by their school (could be their English teacher or guidance counselor, or the scholarship may be hosted by the PTO, it varies). Once nominated, each student will submit a 50 word essay explaining why they would like to be a published author. TEACHERS/PTO PLEASE EMAIL US HERE
Once accepted the student will be enrolled in our online course (Belmont City Press University: My Journey My Story). The course is self guided and should take 3-4 weeks to complete. Each day the student will answer 1-3 questions (takes about 20-30 minutes a day). Once completed, our writers will get to work on putting together the final touches of the story. The student will review the draft. Once approved by the student, our editors will take a look and then it is off to the publisher. At publishers discretion, we may opt for an anthology of like-minded students. Students will be consulted on the cover and voila! You're a published author!
Books will be published to Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Each student will receive 5 copies of their book at no charge. Books will be priced online at the minimum required by the publishing platform and no royalties will be awarded for any sales of the book.
The book is yours: the student. Belmont City Press retains the rights to market and publish the book for 2 years. After that, the student may continue to work with us or may opt to publish the book elsewhere, on their own.
There is no cost. Student "attends" our online writing course (Belmont City Press University) and will complete the writing and developing of their book at no charge ($1250 Value). Writers/Copy editor costs will be covered by BCP LLC ($1250 Value). Student will receive 5 copies of their book once it is published. Should the student want additional copies (known as author copies) they are available to purchase through the publisher at printing costs. (Usually $2-$3 each plus tax/shipping).
Belmont City Press will publish a press release about your book. The book will be posted on all available social media. The student has the option of marketing the book on their social media and , of course listing it as an award or accomplishment on their college applications.
Belmont City Press University has an online course, My Journey My Story. It is designed with questions, prompts, and videos to have the student talk about their life, their experiences, and their "focus" for the future. The student may choose what their "focus" is. It may be what they're thinking of studying in college, choosing to be when they finish college, or their hopes for the future and how they are working towards achieving their goals. If the student has a "book" already written, we can chat about publishing that instead.

Thank you for nominating a student for the Belmont City Press Student Author Scholarship. We are very excited to be working with students and helping them stand out as they move on to the next chapter (pun intended) of their lives. Please read through the following items and fill out the nomination form.
1. Student must be nominated and "sponsored" by an adult such as a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, or other adult.
2. Student should be willing to "attend" our online program this summer and work with us on crafting their story. See FAQ's above for more information on course/time, etc.
3. Nominating adult should indicate their name and contact information in the application. Since we are dealing with minors, we want to make sure we have correct permissions to be engaging with any minors.
4. At the time of nomination, adults may secure a 50 word essay from the student, where the student indicates what being a Published Author would mean to the student. This information will later be used in the marketing of their book, their bio online when the book is published, and on the social media of Belmont City Press. Don't stress, the copy will be OK'd by the student prior to posting. If student has not written the essay as of yet, that's ok, we can obtain it at a later date.
5. This is intended for RISING seniors, meaning students are in their junior year. Our goal is to help the student stand out on their college applications. But not all students leave high school and go directly to college. Current seniors may be nominated if being a published author will help them in the next chapter of their lives. Their essay should indicated HOW it will help them.
